GNRS 506/GSPH 506 - Spiritual Concept Analysis in Healthcare: INTRO/UPDATE on GUIDE

Provides research assistance for the Bible and Church History sections of the concept study. Guide originally created by M. Spomer. 3d. rev. ed. 11.20, S. Ralston, with content by S. Jung, contributions by L. Leahy. Rev. 8.23 SR

**UPDATE SUMMER 2021

This guide was designed to provide research assistance for the Bible and Church History parts of the spiritual concept analysis assignment (aka concept study).  While increasingly we looked for and to online resources to accomplish the assignment (see guide), this model still relied on access and use of resources traditionally used in the discipline that are found in print and available in Stamps Theological Library.  This is true particularly for the Bible "word studies" resources (where they are as yet found only sometimes as ebooks only by purchasing a biblical studies software package available to individuals, and not to libraries, for a hefty commercial fee).

In response to the move to online classes and other matters, both new and revived/redesigned models for the assignment have been created, by. your faculty member and by your theological librarians in support of that (and with faculty approval) for the Bible and/or theology portions, both with careful attention to meeting assignment outcomes as well as, in doing so, to selecting new methods and correspondingly additional online resources in curated and dictated ways toward still providing for solid biblical and theological scholarship. SEE Remote tabbed page.

Some of the original pages used primarily by on-campus classes here still have value to the remote model and others are now suppressed, but pages dedicated to the recommended resources and related research instruction for doing the assignment remotely/online as taught in your class and posted in Canvas may be added/supplemented here:  one for the "Bible/church history" approach and perhaps one for the "theological literature" approach.

So consult with your faculty member and refer to your syllabus and class instruction and Canvas for assignment requirements and any other required resources.  A theological librarian will provide research instruction in class and post handouts on the resources in the scope of this guide for the concept study.  All theological librarians are available via the Stamps/theological librarian chat and/or email  or in person at the research desk in Stamps for research assistance.  Appointments can be made with Liz Leahy, a theology subject specialist.

Consult with your Nursing Subject Specialist by email or by appointment for research help searching healthcare/nursing literature for that part of the assignment or use chat or stop by the research desk in Darling or Marshburn.
