Finding Books in the APU Libraries

One way to locate books on your topic is to enter keywords (words that describe your topic) into the search box in the APU library catalog. You can also enter them here:

Undergrad and graduate students can borrow up to 100 books at a time, with an initial check-out period of 28 days and 4 renewals. Doctoral students, staff, and faculty members can borrow up to 500 books at a time, with an initial check-out period of 90 days and 2 renewals.

You can place items on hold by clicking the "Request" link and selecting a pickup location. We'll send you an email when your items are ready to be picked up (usually the next day). Regional Center students may request free mailing of books by choosing "By Mail" as the pickup location. Mailing is free; items will be sent to your home address with a pre-paid mailing envelope included.

You can check your library account and renew your library books online through the APU library catalog.

Search Tip!

When you find a book that you like, look at the subject headings that are given for it. You can click on those subject headings to find other books on the same subject:

Can't Find it in LINK+? Try WorldCat

WorldCat allows you to search the collections of more than 10,000 libraries around the world. To request items, look up the publication information in WorldCat, then fill out the Interlibrary Loan Request form on the APU Libraries web site. Requested items will be mailed to Regional Center, online, and distance education students' home addresses; they will be held for pick-up by Azusa campus students. If you live near a library that holds the book, you may also be able to go in person to view it; many universities offer "community patron" cards that allow you to borrow books for a small fee. If you work for a college or university, talk to your librarians to see if they have established any other cooperative borrowing networks.

Another Option: Ebooks

The APU Libraries own a number of Ebooks, which are books that you can read online. Ebooks are available any time, and can save you time and money since you don't have to drive to the library to check out books. You can access Ebooks through two APU library databases, Ebrary and EBSCO eBook Collection.

Getting Books from Where You Live

As an APU student, you are free to have non-reference books from any of the APU libraries sent to you, and you are also free to make use of LINK+ and interlibrary loan. Information about these services and how to use them can be found here

However, it may be more convenient to investigate the interlibrary loan services offered through your local libraries (public or academic). By going through a local library, you would be eliminating a step and get your items much more quickly.
