Guide to Abbreviations

Citation formats are listed for both the bibliography style and the parenthetical citations-reference list style. Choose only one of the two styles to use.

Bibliography Style: 

N = Citation format for in-text notes

B = Citation format for entries in the bibliography

Parenthetical Citations-Reference List Style:

PR = Citation format for in-text parenthetical references

RL = Citation format for entries in the reference list

NOTES:

  • Be sure to refer to the manual for information on indenting citations, how to insert quotes in a paper, how to format graphics, and other issues not included in this guide.
  • Page numbers after the section headings correspond to the 7th edition of Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations.

  • If there is no site title, use descriptive phrases for site content 
  • To cite a website without a publication date in your text, give the name of the author or site owner or the descriptive phrase used in the reference list entry - include this information either in parentheses or in the text.

Follow the basic pattern for websites when citing blogs. Include the date of the posting, and give the URL for the main page of the site.
