They have developed a collection of tools for adult ESL instructors on a variety of topics including citizenship, cultural understanding, ESL methods, and second language acquisition. Guides for program development and bibliographies of ESL resources are also available.
Foreign Language Resource Center
"This indexing project of the US Department of Education gathers together links to foreign language resource and study centers in one site. In addition to linking to the resource websites themselves, the project provides for full-text search capability across one or all of the language sites."
FREE: Teaching & Learning Resources from Federal Agencies
FREE makes it easier to find teaching and learning resources from the federal government. More than 1,500 federally supported teaching and learning resources are included from dozens of federal agencies. New sites are added regularly. FREE was originally conceived in 1997 by a federal working group and launched a year later. It was redesigned and relaunched for the first time in November 2006.
National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition (NCELA)

For teachers there are links to lesson plans, sources for professional development, profiles of effective programs for language learners, and resources to promote cultural understanding.”

The special collection promotes the development of high-quality ESL programs, and provides guidelines for planning and supporting these programs. For managers and administrators there are guides to developing ESL programs, and examples of benchmarks and other planning tools.”
