How To Export Records Into EndNote: WorldCat

This guide includes instructions for exporting records into EndNote from the APU library catalog, several APU databases, and Google Scholar. This guide was originally created by Michelle Spomer.

Follow These Instructions:

  • Perform a search in the WorldCat database.
  • Mark the items you'd like to export by putting checks in the boxes to the left. After you've finished marking, click on the Marked Records link near the top of the page (see graphic below).

  • If you're looking at an individual record, put a checkmark in the Mark box above the record (see graphic below).

  • Once you've finished marking items, click on the Marked Records link below the tabs near the top of the page.
  • Select the items you'd like to export, and then click on the Export icon (see graphic below).

  • In the next section, be sure EndNote is selected (see graphic below). Click on the Export button.

  • After clicking Export, a file download dialog box will open. Click Save and navigate to where you'd like the file to be located. Click Save again.
  • Open the exported file. EndNote should open and the Select a Reference Library dialog box will appear. Find the EndNote library where you'd like to export your items, and click Open.
  • The Choose an Import Filter dialog box will open. Select WorldCat (OCLC) from the list. Click the Choose button. The reference(s) should show up in your EndNote library.
