Folklore and Legends Definition

The OED defines folklore as "The traditional beliefs, legends, and customs, current among the common people." Folklore for children includes themes of celebration and elements of humor. Also, folklore in children's literature will often have a child as the main character (Children's Folklore by Brian Sutton-Smith, 1999)
