Hello APU CNHS Faculty,
As the Librarian for the School of Nursing & Department of Public Health, I am available to teach your students about information literacy & research. Please see my instructions below:
Faculty who are teaching asynchronous classes, please find a time that works for the majority of your students to schedule with me.
I am available to teach on Zoom or Google Meet for scheduled online & in-person classes (whatever platform you prefer). Link to my schedule is below.
For Google Meet & Zoom in-person classes, I would prefer that each student has their own computer rather than viewing on the main screen.
For intro-level classes I only need a 60-minute time slot - for these classes, I will provide a demo topic for the students to practice with.
For the other classes, I ask that students have a topic in mind for a particular project/paper that they will be researching during the semester which they will use during the library workshop. I will need 90-120 minutes for these classes.
Please include your syllabus on the scheduling request form as well, so that I can learn more about your course.
For GNRS597, I require that students attend a group/class session with me, or if unable to attend, they need to watch the recording before I meet with them individually. The recording can be found on the GNRS library guide page on the upper right-hand side.
Before I meet with your class, I will send a page with library information to you through Canvas. To load the page after I send it to you on Canvas, follow these directions: You will find it by clicking on "account" and then on "shared content." Click on the 3 dots below "actions," and finally click on "import." Faculty can place this page in their Canvas courses to give students direct access to library resources as well as the ability to chat with and schedule an appointment with me. I do make updates every semester so I would encourage you to update the information each semester. I can also add this to your course for you. To do this, you will have to assign me as an additional faculty member in your course.
Feel free to add me to your Canvas course as additional faculty (many nursing faculty have done this in the past).
I have created a Research Guide to help nursing and public health students. I will continue to add to & update it as I have time: https://apu.libguides.com/
In addition, if you would like any books or ebooks purchased for the library feel free to email me throughout the year. We are adding textbooks (preferred in ebook format) to the library. I normally review syllabi 1 time per year, to order materials listed in the syllabi for the library.
To select a time slot, go to https://apu.libguides.com/
Please share this with other SON & Public Health faculty members who would find this information interesting. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great semester!
Denise
